Re: How do you pronounce LLORG and HTLAL?
This is a funny question. I never thought there would be such variety. I pronounce LLORG as "el el org" and I've never even tried to pronounce HTLAL. I think I've occasionally come up with /hʊtʔlɑl/ as a reading mechanism but now that I've read so many responses I can't be sure anymore.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Re: How do you pronounce LLORG and HTLAL?
I've never had to pronounce either out loud! In my head I think of them as H-T-L-A-L (the letters) and the full name language-learners.org although I'd read LLORG as "el-el-org". I think these are "dark" Ls but I've never been 100% sure of the distinction...

Wife: What are you doing?
Me: Just reading/posting to my language forum.
If I’m talking to myself, it’s just “the forum”.

Re: How do you pronounce LLORG and HTLAL?
LLORG as el el org or simply el el, but for some reason for HTLAL I switch to Dutch and it becomes ɦaː teː lɑl (H-T-LAL).

I spell HTLAL (in whatever language I use at the time), and I pronounce LLORG as "LanguageLearnersOrgWithAHyphen". "The old forum" and "The new forum" are also OK, but only for insiders.

Re: How do you pronounce LLORG and HTLAL?
If reading in my head, my internal voice would say each letter of HTLAL. For LLORG I tend to say ‘Language Learner’s Org’. To other ppl, eaither of these two are ‘a language learning forum’ or ‘a forum for language learners (from around the world)’ or sth similar.

I've got almost the same thing, but since I'm from California it's [hætɫ͡æɫ]. LLORG is [ɛl:oʊɹg].
A while ago I wondered about how people might pronounce the different user names on the forum. Here's my transcription of some of the most prolific posters' names. Who's who?
['ɹaɪnɛkɛɪ]
[kʰæ'veɪsə]
['tʰɑɹvoʊs]
['aɪvɹ̩sɛn] (but sometimes I do a terrible fake Danish accent in my head and say [i:vəsɛʔ])
['brən 'u:gɫ͡] (which I misread as "Brian Ugle" for at least a year)
[a.o.ko.je]
[ɛks'pəgneɪtɹ]
['kʰeɪnˌtʰi:ɹ]
[æ̃ni:]
[sə'fu:kwə]
['zi:nɑps]
[hm̩:]
['sɪstəmˌætɪkɹ] (sometimes I make the <y> into a German [y])
[ɛs ajɑɹd]
[tʰiʲ'æ̃ŋgoʊ]
[eɪdoʊ] (I have like three competing pronunciations going on here)
['nɔɪmæ̃ŋk]
[dɛnzə'gæ:θɪst]

Re: How do you pronounce LLORG and HTLAL?
I pronounce them exactly as they're written, i.e. [llorg] and [htlal]. Don't ask me how I am able to pronounce [htl] at the beginning of a word, I just am.
