I love Le Journal en Francais Facile and Tagesshau, because they are both short newscasts that only cover the top stories. This is great because 1) You can plug them into tiny time slots, 2) I’ve probably already heard about the big stories in English, enhancing comprehension.
Any other favorite examples of the genre? Any language, because short newscasts are like candy, there is always room for a few more!
(The newscasts I mentioned are 10 and 15 minutes. 20 minutes would be about the outer limit.)

Re: Short Newscasts
Two resources I use:
French: Journal en français facile (10 minutes, text available)
German: Langsam gesprochene Nachrichten (~8 minutes slow/~5 minutes normal, text available)
EDIT: Ah, I just realized that we're using the same French resource...

Re: Short Newscasts
Now it occurs to me that I could just make a habit of watching the first 10 or 15 minutes of an hour long newscast. Or break that newscast into six ten-minute parts... (I’ve recently started breaking my ER episodes in half and it’s freed up my schedule beautifully.) Still, I really like short newscasts! There should be more!

Does Huw Rolands have the best voice ever, or is Welsh just incredibly beautiful? I didn’t understand a bit, and would gladly listen to it all day.

News In Slow French is a good resource.

Re: Short Newscasts
NHK has a short news bulletin in a few languages. The user who first linked it had said that the audio matches the text closely, albeit with occasional deviations. Also everything seems to be translated from the English version.

I never really think about languages in terms of beauty. They're all beautiful in their own way. Although I have to admit that when Rhys Meirion and Bryn Fôn sing the language is absolutely stunning.
So do we have a new potential Welsh learner now? Dewch i'r ochr dywyll. Mae gennym ni gwcis!

Re: Short Newscasts
Icelandic radio newscasts from RÚV are a few minutes each, and available on iTunes too: http://www.ruv.is/thaettir/frettir
The TV version is just over 20 minutes but has helpful links so that you can jump to whichever story you want. For example: http://www.ruv.is/sjonvarp/horfa/frettir-kl-19-00/23879
