SBS Radio is reviewing its language services... after the 2016 Census.

The revised services will include seven new languages..:

* Telugu
* Karen
* Tibetan
* Hakha Chin
* Rohingya
* Mongolian
* Kirundi (Rundi)

... 12 current languages will be discontinued...

Following the changes, SBS Radio will offer services in 68 languages...

12 current languages will be discontinued as they do not meet the Selection Criteria. These languages are Kannada, Tongan, Norwegian, Cook Island Maori, Fijian, Swedish and the African program (in English) and the following languages that have been in recess for the last 12 to 18 months including Lithuanian, Malay, Latvian, Danish and Maori.

They are scrapping Maori? That's very disappointing. There are 140,000-170,000 Maori in Australia, sure most probably don't speak much Maori... but still...

Likewise. They list 12 languages, some of which are in 'recess'. Seems like Maori is going, going, gone...
