No matter how long I study French I will never ever ever remember "ainsi".
What about you?

Re: No matter how long I study ___ I will never remember ___
No matter how long I study, I will never remember that people tell me I'm supremely talented when all I did was work really hard and develop a skill.
No matter how long I study, I will never remember there's a limit to the amount of languages I can study.

Ainsi...
Not to be a wet blanket but this is a good way to examine what might be lacking in your language learning approach. Can you form sentences using ainsi? Are you trying to learn the word in isolation? What's so difficult about this word?

I know, I know *hangs head* I used to know it. It came up in an Anki deck and I spent all week forgetting it. I have now looked up other meanings besides the one given on the flashcard and I'm reading it in sentences. I'm sure it will stick soon. I was just having a grumble because it is such a stupid problem about such a basic word. You'd think I was a flipping French novice. (No offence novices, we all start somewhere!!)

But how dare it be down to hard work? Of course you're talented because otherwise it's their lack of effort and that's their own fault then!

All kinds of connectors in German. I study them out of context and they don't stick at all. Study them in context and I just remember the context and those little words still don't stick. I'm hoping time and patience will solve it.

No matter how long I study languages, I will never remember that the perfect life circumstance to learn languages will never come; it's either do it now in imperfect circumstances, or never do it at all.

Ainsi tout change, ainsi tout passe ;
Ainsi nous-mêmes nous passons,
Hélas ! sans laisser plus de trace
Que cette barque où nous glissons
Sur cette mer où tout s'efface.

Re: No matter how long I study ___ I will never remember ___
Speaking of learning something in general, I think very often it's just a question of will, interest, and time .
But yes, there always is such a word that stubbornly slipping away . For example, it was hard for me to remember the right meaning of the word 'eschew', because it looks very similar to 'chew'

I wouldn't even go that far, more their lack of motivation and drive to go to the lengths I do to become a hyperpolyglot. And I still am no Richard Simcott, or even an Iversen.
