How to keep track of flashcards - newbie :)

Postby reddragon » Sat Jul 15, 2017 7:39 pm

Hi

My first post :D

I am starting to learn spanish and been looking at the spaced repetition system.. I have pre written spanish flashcards, and a couple of vocal books which I will create my own from

What is the best way to keep track of words that you are learning - make a document with all the words in so you don't duplicate them or is there a better way.. ? Do I actually need to record the words I am using?

Any recommendations for learning vocab with flash cards

thank you

If you use Anki or other types of software, they keep track of the words you learn. Anki will let you know when you have a duplicate entry.

Anki is an obvious solution, but if you want paper flash cards, I like the little ones on rings.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Thanks I don't know why but I prefer the paper versions....

Just thought if I highlight the words I have created in a dictionary (set aside for this purpose), that could possibly work? Would only take me seconds to check to see if I had already created that flash card.

If you like paper, you might want to check out Iversen's method. He has outlined how he uses paper vocabulary lists. Not exactly flashcards, but worth looking at.

For me, duplicate flashcards is not a concern.

1. If I encounter a word and I know it, I won't have to create a flashcard for it now. It doesn't matter whether I already have a card for it.
2. If I encounter a word and I don't know it, that means either I have no card for it yet or I do but it's not working as desired, so I will need to add a new card now either way. It doesn't matter whether I already have a card for it.

I do my flashcards electronically with duplicate-alert and still I have 76 duplicate cards out of 3243 total cards. They're there on purpose for various reasons including the one described above.

Cheers, that makes sense, I won't worry about duplications :)
