I went and investigated. When I downloaded the installer, two things happened:
1) I was alerted me to the fact that the installer wasn't "signed" -- but an academic isn't likely to pay for code signing for a little hobby project.
2) Avast told me that it was a "rare" file and that rare files are "usually" viruses.
Personally I'm not concerned by either of those, but I can understand why others would be. I'll reiterate, though, that I'm quite certain that if you download the installer from Brown's homepage at Cambridge University, it will be completely safe.
