I submitted my spreadsheet for August promptly on Sep 1st but I can't help but wonder...

Then you've preempted my email which I'm planning to send to everyone asking for them to submit last months results. :)

> hope that you've all learned something!

I have, but still I thank god it's over :? I mean I thank you for running the Study so that I studied more Greek than I otherwise would have.

Some of you may have noticed by now that whenever I see numbers, I just have to crunch them  :crunch: :crunch: This Study happened to cover the 2nd half of my Greek journey so far: I studied 312 hours before it, and 321 hours during it (plus 74 hours of background listening). I studied more hours per day during the Study than before, likely because I subconsciously wanted to beat those lazy bones who think they could learn a language just by watching TV while eating chocolate cake.

In the pre-Study Dialang tests I got B1 in all 5 papers, while after the Study, listening became B2. Scores improved in all 5 papers. Grammar was just 1 point away from B2! Meanwhile in the self-assessment, I put 38 ticks pre-Study and 92 post-. 29 existing skills improved and 25 new skills emerged. Still not functional but at least more comfortable!

Thanks rdearman for the Study, thanks zenmonkey for the spreadsheet, and I hope everyone got good results and useful data to analyse their studies :P

BTW, I have sent out an email to participants but just in case I'll say it again here. Please send me your final spreadsheets, plus you'll need to retake the exam(s) or evaluation sheets you did at the beginning so I can work out what if any progress was made.

Did anyone in the Test Group do the recommended:

- Read one book per week of at least 50k words
- - and write a summary

- Watch at least 2 hours of video in the target language per day
- - repeat understood phrases out loud
- - Pause video if need

- Listen to at least 1 hour of audio in target language per day
- - repeat understood phrases out loud
- - Pause audio if need

:?: How did you find these activities :?:

I can't read anything at A0 level. I have watched content in one of my target languages - but not two hours per day. I have listened to (and repeated) most of my audio material - but not more than ~15 minutes in a day.

Are people telling you about their dogs eating their timesheets, or are they not responding at all?

Both. Mostly the latter. I'm going to go ahead and evaluate when I have time. But to be honest almost everyone who responded were in the "control group", so in fact it probably isn't going to prove anything other than people who normally track their time, continued to track their time. :ugeek:
