Find more time to read real books (in any language) by spending less time aimlessly browsing the same three websites.

Finish the SC in German and carry on towards my goal of 10,000 German pages (still no time limit on this).

More focus on Portuguese and B-level by the end of 2017.

To develop continuously the languages I speak (or trying to speak);
To start and not abandon learning Spanish;
To eventually graduate from University

Finish more workbooks in Spanish (at least two - more if needed)
Read a light novel (or two or three) in Spanish
Read newspaper articles in Spanish a few times a week
Go to Spanish meetup Saturday mornings when I can

Finish some workbooks in German

Don't get sidetracked learning other languages, just focus on Spanish and German for now

I have been thinking about this a lot. I am a box checker and usually do pretty well with resolutions, no matter which month I start them in. Of course, I am quite prone to changing my mind completely I think that what I want to do for this year is make a lot of very specific task based resolutions, and work as hard as possible to get them checked by the end of the year. Even if I don't finish everything, I should make more progress than had I not worked in a specific direction. Not sure how much detail to post in this thread.

The broad outline is:
24 books and 12 audio books in French
Specific tasks to improve writing
+ 1 course

Get back on track and finish Assimil Finnish or find another suitable course ('cause I decided I Hate Assimil)
Read a first book in Finnish this year

Dabble in Russian enough claim A1 by the end of the year

I am currently doing my yearly review and goal planning and stumbled upon languages, which led me to this thread

Originally, I wanted to write that I want to focus on only one language, though I could not decide whether chinese (whichever) or japanese, since I have both japanese and chinese friends and am interested in the script and history and culture..

However, while I was writing my post I realized that I am more interested in learning things about languages (preferrably ones with other scripts) and cultures. So my resolution is more about learning about languages and culture of different countries, multiple scripts etc. instead of learning how to use different languages.
I still want to focus on one at a time since I still don't want to mess up with what I learn about a language. So I still need to decide on whether to focus on Japanese or 'chinese' first.

It somehow never occured to me that my lack in self-discipline in learning languages might be that my interest isn't actually to use the language, but to read about it, maybe understand how it is used, but without any practicing and memorization.

Right now I'm thinking maintain German and improve my French so it's B2 by this time next year Have not done out my study plan yet. I find it difficult to stick to study plans completely so that's another goal; FOLLOW THE PLAN (as much as possible )

Write at least an A4 page a week in French and Spanish.

- Take a new official test in English that I can actually put on my cv, work on grammar and etc. with that in mind.

- Take an uncomplicated in person test in French and Spanish, something like a school diploma or similar. Work on things with that in mind, maybe even take classes.

- Get a damned more serious about Irish and Catalan.

- Learn how to at least read Devanagari script, pick a language that uses it and not change my mind every other day.

- Learn to read either German or Russian at least enough to be able to read articles.

Resolution 1: Complete Platiquemos, read at least three Spanish news/magazine articles a week, watch at least 4 hours of Spanish TV a week.
Resolution 2: Start work on the Spoken World Farsi course I got for Christmas.
Resolution 3: After Completing the Farsi course, work on the German Assimil I have from earlier dabbling. This one also counts as the first resolution for 2018.

What new languages do you want to start?
Slovak - OK, I started a short while ago, but it's new enough. Maybe something else. Maybe pick up those pesky A0 languages from last year (those at the bottom in my profile), or those I mentioned now and then in my log (Latin, Greek).

Which old languages do you want to finish?
Finish, or finish studying (and not touching them again with a ten foot pole)? As always, move every language up one notch. French? (It's not even listed in my profile, but I can use it as a passive bridge language when reading)

How will you measure it?
I have my invalueable spreadsheet.
