Which four would you pick in addition to the ones already on your study list?

None.

I guess that I'm already living the dream here by studying languages that interest me. This isn't the same as wishing that I had more time for them, but, hey, I can't win 'em all.

Cantonese. Especially the /ɵy̯/ diphthong and the tones are beautiful to me. The ability to have plosives in the coda and /ŋ/ in the onset is nice, too. It's difficult to explain what I like about it, without ending up with a description of its phonology and phonotactics xD

I would love to learn Spanish just for the music. I'm not a huge fan of spoken Spanish, however.

For me there are several things I consider when thinking about beauty: the script, the literature, and only then sound. For instance, except Latin no language that uses the Roman alphabet is beautiful to me, even though German could be if the text is written in Fraktur, but just barely. And simpler the script less beautiful it is for me. In other words, an entire discipline should be required just to explain how the writing system works. However, the second criteria is literature, and some languages that have a long and fruitful tradition atone for their simplistic script with deep and arcane texts. So the top four for me would be:

Classical Chinese
Sanskrit
Homeric Greek
Akkadian

Beauty !

Hey the next language I chose will be expressly for how "ugly" it is. I want to make sure I don't get any "oh what a beautiful language you are studying" ever again. :)

Absolutely do not agree. So many uglier ones out there.

You're not a C1 (or B1 or whatever) if you haven't tested.
