Pimsleur Japanese.
Hello all, I am new here so forgive me if I am in the wrong place. I am 84 with a hearing problem and I am trying to learn Japanese using Pimsleur. I have had no problem with the first 10 lessons but am now having trouble understanding what is being said as there seems to be less English being used. I know that Pimsleur do not believe in written material but it would benefit me. Can anybody tell me where I can get transcripts for Pimsleur. I did find transcripts written in hiragana but seem unable to find them again. Thank you.

Re: Pimsleur Japanese.
I think you'll struggle to find transcripts because not long ago Pimsuler (Simon & Schuster) went on a witch hunt and started serving all sorts of copyright violation writs against people putting that stuff on the Internet.

Re: Pimsleur Japanese.
If you can't find a transcript you can always play the recordings out loud for Google Translate (https://translate.google.com/), or better yet, Whisper (Open AI).
If the format isn't what you like past the file into CHATGPT and ask it to format it into sentences with line breaks (https://chat.openai.com/). If can also tell CHATGPT what it is and ask it to fix any obvious errors if you find the transcript is poor.

Re: Pimsleur Japanese.
If you pay for their subscription app there are "games" and flashcards that include the phrases in the lesson.

Re: Pimsleur Japanese.
The Speak Easy feature of Pimsleur's mobile app has the transcript of the lesson's main dialogue.
If you like this style of instruction, then you might want to look into Paul Noble's audio courses. They come with PDFs that can be downloaded from Collins' website. There's also the Mango Languages app which can be used in audio-only mode. You might have free access to it through your public library.

Re: Pimsleur Japanese.
Sorry, but are Japanese-only transcripts acceptable? Or are you looking for English translations as well?
Japanese-only transcripts seem to be available from Pimsleur itself:

Re: Pimsleur Japanese.
Those aren't transcripts of the dialogues. They are "reading lessons", which consist of vocabulary and phrases from the lesson in question. (Some of the later booklets get into sentences.)lowsocks wrote:Sorry, but are Japanese-only transcripts acceptable? Or are you looking for English translations as well?

Re: Pimsleur Japanese.
I see, sorry. I also find mention of "Pimsleur Japanese Audio Dialog Notes by Martin E. Psinas", though with no working links. Perhaps that is the one he remembers (and which Pimsleur has had removed).księżycowy wrote:Those aren't transcripts of the dialogues.
