Bescherelle's French la grammaire pour tous is 320 pages, but I suspect that number is inflated by the presentation.

Duden have a 192 page German grammar aimed at children that has been sitting on my maybe-list for yonks, but I've not seen a copy yet.

Dover "Essential Grammar" Series grammar books are very concise. Unfortunately, they were originally published in the 60s and haven't been updated since, but they're still good enough for beginners who want to familiarize themselves with the basic grammar features of a language.

Many of them might also be available for free on OverDrive if your library bought them.

How is this book, did you use it a lot, would you recommend it? Thanks!

It's good if you want something with rather short explanations of the main points in grammar. The book is something like one of the books in "Hugo's Three Months in..." series as it's actually a textbook laid out with sequential lessons. However, the amount of exercises is so small (in my view) and dated (i.e. grammar-translation) that I see its main value in being a very portable guide to grammar.

I got it because it was cheap and had good reviews but ultimately wasn't that satisfied because I'm that guy who likes to dig deeper and also wants to see more example sentences which illustrate grammatical features. When I studied Turkish, I found myself referring more often to Routledge's guide to Turkish grammar whenever something in my textbooks didn't make enough sense for me.

By the way, this book for Turkish is issued by Dover Publications. It's the same publisher of the small handbooks mentioned above by Doitsujin.

I thought you made up the word 'yonk' or had a misspelling, but it turns out it means 'a long time.'

Live and learn indeed! I have been working at English for yonks, literally right from birth if one counts just lying around as immersion learning, and gurgling as early language production, and I have never come across this word, but I plan on using it quite a lot on a go-forward basis! I already use "yoinks!" very often, mostly at work, but that is a different sort of Scooby-Doo word.

Le Baron, is there a prize for the most concise grammar? 'Cause if there is, I am pretty sure I just won. Which is something I get to say so infrequently IRL that I am just gonna savour this moment, even if there is no actual prize....
