Hi,
I am sure that there are plenty of people who have anxieties but as stated ,I do not believe the limitation of age in learning anything which anyone would intend to learn.
I think I have a good proof for this or at least to speak so.
let's see the reason why.
(I am not sure I had previously told this one )
I AM CHALLENGING!
my mother who is older than 65 age ,I know she had always been highly desirable to learn how to read Quran before I acted suitably across her. I also know that she had spent more than 20 years with wrong persons , wrong methods &experiences. anyway, one day she came to me and said, oh my son , will I learn it?
I said, yes hopefully you will learn it.
observation:
she during more than 2 months asked the same question to me:
"oh my son, will I be able to learn it?"
I never said that she would not be able to learn.
she eventually learnt it. now, she can read Quran independently.
I know or suppose that I taught her a small thing , but I also know that my mother had spent significant amount of time and effort.
I am a teacher and my advice to other teachers is that they should never fade the desire of any learner.
I do not believe the limitation of age & gender for learning

Re: I do not believe the limitation of age & gender for learning
At my German university, only 15 students were fresh students from high school and the rest 85 students were doing their second or third degree because they chose the wrong degree before and could not find a suitable job. All of these students were above 30 years of age and some were in their 40s. Everyone graduated with good grades. As my late father used to say to me, if there is a will there is a way. If you possess a strong will, you can face all adversaries stress-free. Most people drop out or have issues with learning because they do not have the required discipline or do not seek help. If there is a problem, there must be a solution, seek help. Age is just a number.

Can I just confirm that I also don't think age is a completely limiting factor for learning. The discussion I started was more about common perceptions of age and learning. However I do think there are age-related issues to consider - having either positive or negative effects. Belief is not enough.

Gender is a limitation in language learning? Who has ever said that?

no, in fact, there are still nations , communities or people thinking so. If you include past times, then I can find many exmples ,I think. Even in English society. Just as sample : consider : James Barry (a doctor).
meanwhile, what would you remember when I use "gender" word? Just male and females?
if yes, no , it should not be so.

Please explain. How is James Barry relevant to language learning?

How is James Barry relevant to language learning, now or ever?
So you'd like to make sure the readers of this forum know that everyone, including women and those who identify as LGBTQ+, can learn languages.
I'm guess I'm not sure why that thought needed a thread.
On a related note, Happy International Women's Day!

I think that age and so on is more of an excuse than anything to not learn language or to learn anything else. I think that as long as you keep consistent and use the right methods learning a new language would definitely be possible.
