A while ago, I was signed to coach a basketball team mid-season, and even when most of the players were locals, one of them was loaned from a higher division team.

In the first training, not knowing most of their names, I was a bit puzzled by his strange accent, which sounded kind of slavic, so at the end of the training session, I approached him and asked, "you aren't from here, right?", and he answered "no, I'm from Vigo", which is a galician city near the border with Portugal.

Not everyone from Vigo sound like that, anyways.
