I had a notion to go teach there a few years back, but never came across any schools hiring.

Val d'Aran is also notable for being the last free part of Spain in the civil war -- by the time Franco's forces advanced that far into the Pyrenees, the passes were closed by snow. When they got in in the spring, they immediately started digging a road tunnel.

Aranés, is a language I am interested in learning... when the world gets back to close to normal as far as travel goes. I've been getting used to the language for a while now. On Twitter, I follow some Aranés accounts, among which are: En Aranés and Occitan Aranés. The Institut Aranés has (paid) online courses. There is a verb conjugator site with some language links: Vèrbs Aranés. There is a site where you can download free and legal classic world and Spanish literature translated into Aranés: Colleccion Antòni Nogués. For a minority language spoken by around 5,000 or so people, it is well resourced for learners. If one speaks Spanish; Catalan; and French or an Occitan language, it would be easier to learn. Both Nooj and Guyome here on the forum have experience with it.
