How exactly they are related ethnically and linguistically is still unsolved. The main theory is that the common ancestor of both was in Europe north of the Caucasus and the Hittites migrated from there to Anatolia via the Balkans, crossing the Caucusus is also under consideration: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe4jnBdVxjw)
Since the Hittites cremated their dead it's difficult to find and study their DNA.
