His videos started popping up in my feed a few months ago and I've enjoyed them, but I don't have any background in the languages or history that he covers.
I admire him and his knowledge a lot but he has said a few things (not about language) in a manner that I have found hurtful in the past. He's clearly a nice guy, he hurt me by repeating certain ideas that are common and because he is so clear and precisely because I admire him, I felt hurt.
In this thread, I wanted to praise him for another excellent video and because of my own failings couldn't help adding the bit about feeling ambivalent.
This is a reflection of me not him and I think we would do better to leave the topic now (I am willing to give details by PM if you want).
I do, however, genuinely think it's OK for me to post about feeling ambivalent. In hindsight I can see that it was a bit childish and totally unhelpful; but I'm human and I don't think it is deserving of a big thing being made out of it. I'm honestly surprised by that.
If, on the other hand, you want to comment that it was a bit childish or petty, I can't argue. I can see that it was.
