We all study cursive writing in Russian schools. I'm not perfect in that though. But during these sessions I tried to write slowly and accurately on index cards. Again, almost zero effectiveness in terms of vocabulary retention (because I didn't review them) but it was nice to do it for a change (instead of typing or copying and pasting, as usual).

You're not a C1 (or B1 or whatever) if you haven't tested.

Note that Cioran said fighting depression/melancholy and you changed it to fighting stress. I agree with Cioran but not you: language distracts me from and stops me from dwelling on unhappy things so I think it could fight depression, but sometimes it gives me stress symptoms I think from studying too hard for too long.

Re: Foreign language learning as a stress therapy
I totally agree with your post. I have thought about this before and have even discussed with my sister that language learning can ease off stress and make you happy. She doubted though but I still have that strong conviction. As for me, I am learning Italian gradually to see how this works and moreover, I just arrived in Italy so I need to learn it in order to communicate with people properly.

Re: Foreign language learning as a stress therapy
I have actually heard of this being a good therapy to some people though. But I think learning a new language is stressful on its own. Its quite an irony for me though. But maybe I will try it out since I am already learning Italian language.
