Question about list of languages to learn

Postby Sonjaconjota » Sat Apr 24, 2021 6:12 am

Hello!
I've got a question. Some time ago, I read something on the internet about somebody recommending a certain list of languages to learn if you want a well-rounded education.
The languages were different according to your origin / culture, but the definitions were the same for everybody. It was something like "one international lingua franca of your region, one smaller local language, one classical language that has heavily influenced your culture" or similar. I can't remember the whole list or the person who created it. Does this sound familiar to anybody? Could anybody tell me who created this list, so I can find it again?
By the way, I'm not asking because I really want to use it as a guideline, I just found it interesting and would like to have another look.
I liked the idea because this person wasn't just telling people Eurocentrically to go and learn Latin and French if they wanted to be educated.

This is probably what you're thinking of. http://www.how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=300&PN=1&TPN=3
Prof Arguelles was the one who posted it.
