I've decided to celebrate this special post, my 1967th, by holding a language book giveaway, like I did with my 1000th post a couple years ago. If you've followed my log, you know I've got oodles of language books in my house. Some would say I have too many books. But I don't need that kind of negativity in my life.
I've got books that I never look at and probably won't ever look at. In some instances, I have duplicates. My books cover the following languages: Russian, Esperanto, BCS, Cornish, Irish, Italian, Spanish. I'll send one lucky person one of my books!
Rules are simple:
1) Reply to this thread with a) the language you're interested in and b) the reason (the funnier the better!).
2) You get one entry and one entry only! If you reply to this post more than once you're disqualified.
3) Your mailing address must be in the U.S. or you must be willing to pay the difference between media mail (~$5.00) and shipping to Timbuktu (or wherever you call home).
4) No selling the book on eBay or anywhere! If you don't like the book, you have to give it away for free.
On Sunday, 4 April, at 9:00am NY time, I'll use a random number generator to pick the winner, based on the number of your post. I will send the winner a PM asking for mailing address. If the winner does not reply to me by PM within 24 hours, I'll pick another winner. The book will remain a mystery until you get it! I only ask that after you get it, you post a pic of it (and yourself, if so inclined) in this thread.
OK, so that's it. I don't think I missed anything. IF I did, please PM me what I missed so we can keep all the replies to this post as entries only.
Cheers all and happy languaging!

Irish or BCS
Because why should they sit unused on your bookshelves when they can sit unused on mine? (they’re on on my wishlist but honestly you shouldn’t give them to me because I’m stretched too thin as is... but I still want them)
Address... I’ve stalked the general message boards here long enough not to trust a public posting of my address. But if I’m a winner PM me and it’s only in NY so not too far!

a.) Italiano
b.) Because getting a free book from a kind stranger might actually be enough to shame me into not giving up on learning it this time
Nice idea IronMike, good luck everyone!

Re: Special Post giveaway!
I'm interested in all languages you mention, and for that matter would be willing to pay not only for the postage but for the books as well. But alas, I already have too many books.
Good luck to all contestants! There surely must be some gems in that collection...

I'll pick Serbocroatian, so that my Serbian friends stop pestering me to learn their language.

Esperanto!
I temporarily stopped studying it actively in January, but obviously I need every possible obscure book on that language!
