I've made a go at translating it into Romansh (Sursilvan idiom), but I am not a native speaker, so I do not guarantee it's 100% correct:
Preferiu
Jeu hai in uors preferiu,
Ed in cudisch preferiu,
In jumper preferiu
Ed ina caultscha preferida
Ina canzun preferida
Ed ina balla preferida,
in animal da casa preferiu
ed in numer preferiu.
Aber avon tut
Legra mei miu Bab.... ed eis ti!

Re: Help needed with translations
Galaxyrocker, you mean like this?
Tá agam béar is fearr liom
is leabhar is fearr liom.
Geansaí is fearr liom,
is an briste is fearr liom.
an Amhrán is fearr liom
is liathróid is fearr liom.
Peata is fearr liom,
is uimhir is fearr liom.
Ach, thar aon ní eile,
bím níos sásta le mo Dhaidí, agus tusa atá ann

Re: Help needed with translations
You're welcome! I've highlighted in bold the letter "э" in "это" and the word "есть" in "У меня есть" just to indicate the changes, you didn't need to copy the font. And you forgot to change "любимый" to "любимое".
I'll try to make a Tatar translation or get a native to do it.

Re: Help needed with translations
My Swahili is still rudimentary, nonetheless I think that that version of the poem could be worked on. For instance in the first verse, "kubeba" is the verb "to bear, to carry" whereas the animal is called "dubu". Furthermore the word "pant" for trousers is probably used, but there is also the word "suruali" of Bantu origin, but it's up to you to decide which version of the word you prefer. Try and have a native speaker take a look at the translation if you can.

Serpent wrote:Also, note that the record is for a poem *recited* in the most languages. It would seem like it would have to be recited at the same place, not via skype etc. And not everyone who provided a translation will be comfortable with reciting, not to mention the timezones issue.
Don't get me wrong, I love your project and I'll try my hand at the Belarusian translation, I'm sure my Belarusian dad will appreciate that But I want to make sure you get the record
edit this record is cool
And now the link in the googledocs has been changed to the most translated document, which is the declaration of human rights. I don't think we can beat that Maybe the OP can get in touch and find out if there's a record for the most translated poem? It will still have to be more than the record mentioned originally though.
