I fill the time by posting insipid comments on the LLORG. Since no one actually reads them, there’s no harm done … I guess. In addition, I spend a goodly portion of my monthly pension income on purchases of vintage language-learning materials in the forlorn hope of preserving them for posterity. However, deep in my heart, I know that someday, they’ll find their way to the local landfill. :?

I take a break. Sometimes it takes several years before I come back to the language, sometimes it's just a short break. Same thing with any of my other interests.

I actively work at avoiding boredom. With Hebrew simply finding music I enjoy in Hebrew helps me not get bored of Hebrew. It helps keep my interest when I have low vocabulary and it just helps me feel more affinity towards Hebrew speakers. For a while I’ve been using subs2srs to learn vocabulary from movies. That’s a fun way to learn vocabulary and sentence structure. It’s a bit narrow so lately using some captioned YouTube videos to expand my vocabulary. I’m doing this so I can find content I can enjoy in the future. It’s highly likely I’d get bored of Hebrew if I can’t find Hebrew content I can enjoy and understand. So I think I’ve got to expand my vocabulary to avoid getting bored by Hebrew. When I feel stressed or overwhelmed by Hebrew I just take a planned break. A lot of times I make it coincide with an actual vacation, so I’ll be too busy with my vacation to study much Hebrew. During a break from Hebrew I’ll allow myself to dabble in other languages and not expect any progress in them. On a recent trip to Iceland I didn’t really study any Hebrew. I dabbled a bit in Icelandic, but had no intention of progressing. I felt pretty refreshed after that vacation.

I spent more time playing music. Then I never got back into language learning properly. I'm now just a teacher. I should properly learn a new language soon.

I just took a month off from language learning and it was awesome. I caught up on TV, movies, and video games, and just chilled. But that was about as long as I could stay away. I got sucked back in a couple weeks ago.

As others said, I just take a break or do something else. It rarely lasts long for me anyway. Sometimes, I try listening to my favorite foreign language music to help get my motivation back.

I take a walk around the neighborhood, get annoyed at my imperfect understanding of the target languages I hear around me, and bam my motivation is back.

I haven't had the energy for serious language learning for years now (the bulk of my language learning was done between 2011 and 2017, with a significant foundation laid during my teens and early youth) and the only language learning I'm doing is really focused on interpreting techniques, which is also focused on amassing loads of specialized vocabulary in my TL (and sometimes in my native languages). What I do is focus on other hobbies of mine, such as reading, listening to (and sometimes playing) music, and chess. I work with languages so I'll keep using mine anyway.
