When you used to see the word "pie" and think of the mnemonic for electrical power P = I*E, but now it's been replaced with Proto-Indo-European.

When you prefer your Greek or your Cyrillic handwriting to the kind of semilegible scrawl you use for your native language

When that makes you think how greatly would some languages look with Greek or Cyrillic alphabet...

You have to study to pass your nursing licensing exam and the only way you can motivate yourself to do it is if you can find nursing study guides in German.

Also, they offer the option of taking your exam in English or Spanish and you're tempted to take it in Spanish....

When you get excited about visiting Strasbourg not only because your daughter lives there but because they have a great language bookstore AND you can raid your daughter's shelves for her language stuff.

When you see in Polyclod's signature that he's reading something called "Star Trek Widerstand" and you think, "Oh my goodness! They have Star Trek books in German?! I have to start learning German now!"

(Maybe this belongs on a "You know you're a Trekker when...." list.)

Haha always good to tempt people to come over to the Dark Seite. We have lots of Star Trek stuff, probably more than for any other language except English.

So learn German! *Widerstand ist zwecklos*...

When your Arabic handwriting is 200% more legible than your native, Latin-based script.
