When you get into a minor dispute (read: fight) at work over the citizenship requirements of a particular country, noting you'll probably have to have passed an advanced language proficiency exam to live there permanently without trouble. But your coworker takes issue with that, saying he'll not need to live there permanently, just for a while. And because of the country's high English proficiency rate, he won't need the skills he's acquired much anyway. Get a bit rageful at that, but calm down when he says it is nice to meet people halfway and at least try to speak the country's national language.

When you have enough languages on your plate and tell yourself you don't need to study any more languages... and you start Japanese

... you call this thread dangerous (because you could get lost in it when reading it too much, but you force yourself not to :)), while already having realized a long time ago that you are a language nerd anyway.

So this is kind of an additional confirmation.

... when you learned how to _always_ apply brevity instead of unnecessary verbosity, but then still write a long sentence like the one above, while also knowing why it doesn't contain unnecessary verbosity in this very case, nor anything that is too complicated for this very thread's very purpose.

... when you return to this thread after already having posted some bizarre-esque poetry before.

... when you make up "too many" English Words Combos because you Simply Love Writing That Way because you consider it an Efficient Way To Make Many Mental Hash Tags because you Already Experienced Too Many Times That They Really Do Work For You.

... when you conca(t/tt)inate several parts of the sentence by using "because because because".

... when mentioning one Language Nerd Reason (or I myself would prefer Language Geek Reason) reminds you of another one.

... when you know how SGP feels like right now because of forcing himself to stop adding any more lines to this post, while also realizing why this doesn't make him sad or anything. However, of course none of these reasons is a requirement for being a Language Nerd *intentionally pointing out the obvious because it is On-Topic in This Very Thread* #BigBigOnTopic #HashTagWithoutCashBack #StrangeRhymesWithoutLimes

You are travelling for a few days and you've downloaded a Colloquial French - Advanced to the tablet device ........ but you've actually picked Colloquial Farsi because of the way Windows shortcuts abbreviated the names. Subconsciously you don't really mind or feel the need to rename your download files so it doesn't happen again.

How come? Didn't really understand the technical reason.

And since you are a tomcat, there is a very short story for you (and others as well, Not Excluding Non-Cats At All ! ! ! 1 [sic]).

A child once told me, "you are a cat!". Because of the beard.

Cat in Swahili and Japanese: paka, neko.

Cat sound in Nihongo: nyaa, nyaa!

Also, since this is the So Many Things Are On-Topic Here While They Would Be Off-Topic Elsewhere Thread (what a long title ), here is a short MSA comprehension test for you. I am simply wondering how much you still could recall (because it states "old" in your language list). Needless to say that this test is #NoReplyRequired if you prefer not to.

The Non-Standard Non-Dictionary Term SGPification which is Entirely Alien to Every Single Dictionary (at the time writing ) does have Many Different Meanings. However, forcing someone to do something he doesn't want is Simply Not Meant By Any Of Them.

Katze
كاتار: Kater
أكُ: [sic, i.e. not a typo]

Are you (as in you, eido) an active conlangist making one?

Yes, I'm making one. But I wouldn't call myself a conlanger, because I'm not an expert yet.

If you wanted, you could mention any kind of details. But of course #NoReplyRequired
