Whenever anyone says to me "Say something in French" I always reply "quelque chose" ;)

For me it's Escargot.

In Italian I say: qualcosa
In Mandarin: 某物
in Setswana: sengwe

Hint: Say something in French.

When you long ago decided to hold off on learning Cantonese because you needed to focus on Mandarin, but every time you pass some of the international students who are speaking it you still have to resist the urge to add it to your studies.

When you are in general unhappy and depressive, and you start seriously considering, whether signing up for SIELE could add a bit of purpose and flavour to your life.

When it will be several years before you have room for Mandarin in your language queue, but you go to the library and they just happen to have an entire 16-disc level of Pimsleur Mandarin, not just a 5-disc set like they usually have, and you're only saved when your wife points out that it's Mandarin II and they don't have Mandarin I.

Note from an educator and former ESL/test skills tutor: Any learner, including self-learners, can use the CEFR for self-assessment. The CEFR is for helping learners progress and not for gatekeeping and bullying.
