So far I am seeing the day go like...
Meet and greet
Ignore each other while we drool over all the books
Pressure/enable/tempt each other into buying all.the.books
Eat a meal somewhere?

Who's got better ideas?? There must be someone out there who knows how to plan these things :-p

This sounds reasonable to me...When and where do we want to meet? Will we have to do paper-rock-scissors to go to a restaurant related to our target languages? ;)

I'm sorry to say that I have bad news: my job situation is shakey right now, and I can't promise that I'll make the sojourn to NYC. It would be better to plan without me, and if I can come, I'll join you guys.

It looks like, regardless of my job situation, I can go to NYC on the 20-21 of November. My plan was to leave Boston early that Monday, arrive in NYC that morning, spend the day there, and depending, maybe spend the night outside of NYC (because of prices), and return home the next day? I have research train tickets.

Oh good. I was thinking this would probably all fall apart without you :) I can do Monday. I'll head into the city in the am. I'll need to bring my 6 month old, but he's usually pretty mellow and easy going.
As far as the night goes, I'm either going to crash on my bestie's couch, go "home" on a train to where I am staying with family, or have DH meet me in the city/Hoboken/Jersey city for dinner and drive me home.

PA is definitely too far from me.

I think I "quoted" everyone that indicated interest. So the plan is to meet on November 20-21, the Monday and Tuesday.

So I should arrive (God willing) at the Port Authority bus stop around 11:20ish in the morning, and it looks like it's not far from the Strand Bookstore. :) And my bus stop isn't far from Grand Central Station, which I believe Emk will be arriving at?

I figured we could have lunch in that area? I've been looking at this link for ideas: https://www.tripadvisor.com/RestaurantsNear-g60763-d208901-The_Strand_Bookstore-New_York_City_New_York.html If someone has recommendations, please let me know. I figured we could have lunch sometime after 12:00PM? And go to the Strand from there. Spend some hours there, and then go somewhere for dinner.

Learning that both Ani and I are on the ketogenic diet, I found a new list of places to eat:

Apparently, Bare Burger has low-carb alternatives to wheat buns, and it's close to where we will be. I'm wondering if the BBQ places will have sugar in their sauces?

We are! Or at least, us two are. :D Hopefully more will join.

Shall we do the Bare Burger place at 12:30 or 1:00? I’ll post more when I’m back at my computer.

Sorry, my workload sharply increased so I won't be able to join.

I'm still trying to get down there for tomorrow—just figuring out if some last minute details are feasible. I'll post here one way or the other.
