So normally we meet at the BPL (Boston Public Library), but that is closed to hang-outs. There is a park nearby, providing the weather is good (hopefully?) There are also coffee shops by the Arlington train stop on Boylston Street, or there are other out-door restaurants on the next street over on Newbury. Or we could meet somewhere completely different. Harvard Square and Davis Square in Cambridge have out-door seating restaurants and variety, but I'm not sure what the parking situation is. Both are accessible by train or bus.
Thoughts, preferences?

I will be visiting home up north literally right after this, not that I would necessarily have time to meet up anyway.
What I will say is that, per the last post, y'all should definitely meet at Harvard Sq and those who can, get Sicilian pizza from Pinocchio's. Do it for me. Maybe tip your hats in memoriam to the former site of Schoenhof's as well.

Re: LLorg East Coast ~2021~
I should be down for the 16ᵗʰ! My second shot should be in full effect by then.
I don't have a strong preference of where to meet. I usually park at Wonderland and take the blue line in, so the Copley or Arlington area would be slightly more convenient for me than going to Cambridge, but it isn't a huge deal for me either way. I will definitely pour one out for Schoenhof's regardless of whether or not we end up at Harvard Square.
A big thanks to Xenops for taking the initiative on the scheduling!

I will be coming from Jamaica Plain, so Copley would be closer for me as well, but since I will be coming by metro I could just as easily go to Cambridge : it would just take longer. As was true last time, I will not be there until sometime in the afternoon, as I will be coming from church.

This is the saddest. I've loved Schoenhof's for so long, bought from them years ago. Then I finally get stationed in Boston, and Schoenhof's closes. Sigh...
I already love bookstores, especially two particular ones downtown, but to spend hours in a bookstore browsing when the bookstore is a language books bookstore? Holy crap.

Okay, Copley/Arlington it is. Next question: dietary restrictions, preferences? American, Italian, sea food?

No restrictions, only preference is I'm not really a fan of seafood.
So...I've never been to Boston and know almost nothing about the layout of the city. It looks from Google maps like Copley isn't too far from the airport. Is the subway sufficient to get around? Anyone have recommendations for a hotel to stay at and stuff to go look at Saturday? I'm going to try to compile my own list of course, but I'd like to hear from people who know the city. I'll walk around Harvard, at the very least.
What time are we planning on meeting up? I'm aiming to take a later flight out Sunday but if that doesn't look like it'll work I may shoot for closer to late afternoon than evening.

Yes, that is correct. Either the subway or the "silver line" (bus shuttle) should be sufficient. If you have a Maps app on your phone, it's pretty good about giving directions using public transit.

The Museum of Fine Arts is amazing--but know that you won't see everything in a day. Currently they are open, but you must buy tickets beforehand. https://mfa.org/tickets They are right off a stop on the Green line (route D I believe--be sure to double check).
As for hotels, I'm afraid I don't have any particular recommendations. I guess pick something in your budget?

People come and go as they are able. Usually people wander in early afternoon, we chat for a few hours, and then we find some place to eat that evening.

Re: LLorg East Coast ~2021~
Okay, I'm making an executive decision: how about one of these two for dinner? They both serve some meat, and drinks.
http://www.oaklongbarkitchen.com/
https://www.stephaniesonnewbury.com
They are both a short walk from the library. They also have patio/outdoor seating. Which brings up the question: how many people can see themselves staying for dinner, starting between 5:00pm and 6:00pm? I'm thinking I might need to make reservations.
For the initial congregation, I'm thinking Tatte on 399 Boylston St.--they have outdoor seating, and it's close to the Arlington stop.
So, itinerary:
1:00pm--4:00pm meet at Tatte, grab a coffee, lunch, whatever.
5:00pm--9:00pm dinner.

Re: LLorg East Coast ~2021~
That itinerary is fine with me, I will have to leave before dinner, however. I should be able to hang out for most/all of the time before that. I'll check out the museum most likely and I'm glad to hear public transit is sufficient (I figured it would be, Boston is one of the few cities where I would assume that in the US).
