It's worth pointing out, that LangFest, the North American polyglot convention initiated by Steve Kaufman (spelling?) will also be in Montréal this summer, from the 23-25 of August. I've never been, so I can't say much about it other than that I'm interested, if circumstances allow, but it's worth remembering if we're planning a meet-up of our own in the same place at around the same time.

I'd also be very interested in attending HTLALvention 2k19, if it happens, although too much of my life is up in the air at the moment for me to really make any promises.

I am tentatively interested in this! I have very little travel budget. However, I do have summers off now since I work in a school, and I've always wanted to visit Montreal! I even have friends there so there's couchsurfing potential. :D

Of course, I think you should all fly down here to the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, or one of the French islands. Miami is a good option for me... if it has to be in Babylon.

In immigration limbo right now but hopefully all will go through very soon and I can know for certain where I'll be (got an experience taking the TEF/TEFAQ to write up soon-ish in relation to that).

In the meantime, while it's likely not within the time frame of an official meetup, an event that may interest people who are keen to pass through is the Montreal library system's big book sale happening the weekend of May 29 to June 1: https://amis.banq.qc.ca/marche-aux-livres/. Tons of books in French plus others (if you're looking for other language bookstores I know of some of those as well).

I'm totally down for this. This is like the thing that we need. Just say "cheap books" and I'm setting up a hotel room.

Anybody else?

I might want to do LangFest, but August is a little harder for me to plan. I am close enough that I can go to Montreal a few times easily...

I know there are a lot of Northern East Coasters here, but I've been right by Miami for most of the last 6 months... I hope you'll message me if there's ever a chance we could grab coffee... And maybe there's someone else in the wings who might jump in.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I don't think I'll make it to the library book sale--I need more advance notice. ;) I could probably swing something later in the summer for Montreal?

For meeting in Boston, just about any weekend works for me, except May 11-13 I'll be out of state.

Oh man, I would love to hang out with you all and explore Montreal, but it's looking tricky for me. The book sale sounds awesome, but I'll be in DC at the time. I'm free during LangFest, and I notice that it coincides with the start of the Montreal Film Festival (some info here, but looks like the film lineup hasn't been finalized yet). The only thing is, my travel budget is stretched a bit thin (just got back from Germany, and I'm planning to visit a friend in Myanmar in the fall). Will definitely keep an eye on this thread though in case there's a way to swing it.

And I'm always up for a Boston area meetup. The only times I'm away are May 29th to June 4th and June 28th to July 6th.

After consulting my earn time and my bank account, I don't Montreal would be a good choice for me at this time. I need to save all of my resources and study time for my Japan trip. ;)

I can tentatively make it up for Saturday, June 1! (And maybe the Friday evening before, depending on my schedule.) There's (as always) a couple of BD series in which I'd love to find tome 2, and books are always wonderful. :-)

Nice! I **might** be going on a little day trip June 1st to the Laurentians (I’ll confirm that) but I should be around before/after (or even late night Saturday). I saw an ad that May is Mois de la BD but looks like there are unfortunately no events the 31 https://www.fbdm-montreal.ca/festival-b ... -de-la-bd/.

Alright, fall is almost here! :ugeek:

I will be in Japan from October 13-29. The following week might be good for meetups for me, because I took one week off to get used to American time. November weekends work as well. I might take a seminar the weekend of November 24th, but that has yet to be decided.

Anyone game? :)
