A language learners’ forum

First of all, I want to thank reineke for his (her?) wonder posts The Master List of Resources and the more recent Language Tools post. This got me thinking; as you all know by now, the old HTLAL site's domain will expire either in 2020 or 2021, along with all the wealth of knowledge on there. If I have a specific question about a language, I often go to the old forum and look through the old posts. I often see mention of resources that I don't see mentioned here.

So my proposal is this: could we make a post, or add onto reineke's, with all of the mentioned resources mentioned on the old forum? Everyone that's willing would search for mentioned resources of languages they pick, and everyone would post their findings. People could also volunteer to look up languages outside of their current study (i.e. Welsh, or something).

What I'm looking at is a list of materials pertaining to learn a specific language, like Talk to Me in Korean for the Korean language. Those kind of resources. I know that the language methods and the logs would ultimately be lost, but at least we could make a list of all of the possible courses/resources for any particular language. We could also assign more people to a popular language, as they would have more posts to sift through.

Thoughts?

Without a pro account, you can only access the first ten results from a search, so only people interested in bringing the information here and who still have a pro account there can really do what you're talking about in terms of finding the stuff not already a part of HTLAL's tagging system (and even in it, older than 10 posts). I think.

This is true if you search by tag (say, Spanish). If you search by "search text", then you can find more than ten results. It's messy, but it's something.

I've searched both ways, via HTLAL and via Google. IMHO, a Google search is better than a text search via HTLAL. Sometimes a text search via HTLAL times out before it reports anything, at least I think it times out. In my experience, a tag search via HTLAL works well, but there is of course that limit of 10 results for non-members, who are better off using Google.
