Re: LLorg/HTLAL in-person meetup event
Any excuse to go to London or Europe is good for me However I've no idea where I'm going to be after the next couple of months so I'll just have to be annoyingly non-committal and say I'll join if whatever is organised suits me.

So is the meetup in London more or less sure now? When are we going to have solid dates?

Don't know, really need to see if everyone is OK with a weekend, and if July is OK? Might be to soon to organize anything if there is a lot of interest.

Re: LLorg/HTLAL in-person meetup event
OK, I've been taking advice from people who've organised this sort of thing before and some recommendations are:
So I'm proposing the 28th, 29th and 30th of July 2017. Last week in July for 3 days.
So then the plan would be to organise a conference hall for Friday afternoon in London where we can meet and hand out a schedule of events. The events are just to go to various sites in London. A tour of the bookstores, Blackwells, Daunt Books - Marylebone, Foyles, etc. with a quick walkabout around the landmarks located nearby or musems, art gallerys, etc. So for example:
Travel to Daunt Books - Marylebone, visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum, the Sherlock statue, Madame Tussauds, hit the pub across the street.
Travel to Foyles Books - Charing Cross Road, visit British Museum, Leicester Square, Chinatown, hit the pub across the street.
Travel to Forbidden Planet, Shaftesbury Ave, visit Covent Garden, Orbital Comics, hit the pub across the street.
Then perhaps a day walking along the Thames looking at the sights, Westminster, Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, etc.
People could come and go as they please to the various gathering spots.
So if this sounds interesting to people let me know, then I'll look at costs and try to come up with something. If your interested in helping plan and organise then let me know that also. I figure if there are less than 10 people, we could probably just pick a pub, meetup and wander around to the various places.
- we need to fix the dates
- try to limit the amount of time in a conference hall to reduce costs
- get a firm commitment (aka take your money off you!) before booking any facilities
- a walking tour is fun

How about just hangout at a nice pub with a pint or three?

Keep telling my wife "I'm going out for a pint", now I believe she thinks a pint is about 6 foot tall and 3 foot in diameter and I drink it all down at once.

I'm keen on both pub hangouts and werewolf games as long as we also do bookstore raids.

Re: LLorg/HTLAL in-person meetup event
So, does anyone feel like taking the initiative and creating a thread about LLorg London so we can get this show on the road?
Yeah, I'd do it myself but I'm struggling to organise my life right now so...
