Materials and Resources Volunteers

I would like to try to find some people who would be willing to maintain some resources pages? If you go to the master list of resources, you'll see a lot of languages. It would be nice if I could get some volunteers to manage a language. For example, if you're learning German and want to maintain the first post of the German Resources linked to from the Master List of Resource then I can assign the first post to you, which will allow you to edit the post and update it based on all the subsequent posts where people are adding resources.

Ideally, I would like to start to standardize these pages a little more. If you look at the Welsh Page, I did a template for the first post, which I now need to fill in the various categories using all the links people gave in the subsequent posts.

https://forum.language-learners.org/vie ... 19&t=14442

You can see that this would be a full time job for all the languages in the Master list of resources! But if we could split it up amongst people, it would be straightforward to maintain just one or two languages.

If you would like to volunteer, just send me a PM telling me which languages you would like to maintain the page for, and I'll set you up.

EDIT: You don't actually have to be learning the language to maintain the page! So feel free to volunteer for something you might like to do in the future, or just one that seems like it needs some love.

Could people add these audio resources for various languages if they don't have them already?

Two things:

1. What does one have to do exactly? Are the resources already in the designated threads or are they dispersed and need tidying up?

2. It may be possible to combine Malay/Javanese/Indonesian into a single resource thread. Some may object to that, but I think there is enough relationship to justify it and mainly because Malay/Javanese (and possibly Balinese) would have more scant resources than bahasa Indonesia. Also that people taking on Indonesian will likely have some interest in those resources.

Tome it makes no difference if they are separate or together though it does mean either more people to maintain them or one person maintaining multiple threads.

You must agree to beaten mercilessly, and then pay me lots of money. No, actually, you just maintain the links in the first part of the thread. Other members offer up resources they have found and you keep them in a nice tidy order at the beginning of the list. Most of the links are already in designated threads, so just looking for people to maintain them.

Some threads are already like this, where the link to the specific language redirects to the same thread which shared resources. So if you were going to volunteer to maintain those three languages, and want to list them all in a single thread that is fine. Although at the moment you'd have to:
  1. Create a new thread
  2. Copy and organize all the existing resources into this new thread
  3. Get me (the admin) to redirect all links from the "Master List of Resources" for these languages to the new combined thread.

Well I could always help with Spanish/ Portuguese or Catalá but since i can't search (forbidden) nor view new posts (also blocked) it is quite tricky. Wonder what I have done to offend, please fill me in.

Also it takes ages for a post to appear.. which is really not helpful for newbies. One cannot even see whether one has replied to a post.

You should now have access to those things. There is a participation threshold on the forum in order to stop spammers. Newbies have to have their posts approved, otherwise we'd end up with thousands of porn advertisements each day. So, it sucks, but until people prove they are ligit users and not spammers, that is just the way we have to operate.

I'm going to bump this thread again because we're still missing caretakers for some large languages such as German! So have a look at the languages you are learning and if you see my name on the first post of a language resources thread then it probably needs a new caretaker. Even if it isn't listed above!
