Re: Old HTLAL crash again?
It would be great if things could be locked at the old site (presuming it comes back). I didn't realize until after I had created my recent thread that the site, although back, wasn't really back in a lasting way. Afterwards I read the thread posted there about the deadline passing, the new site, etc. ... however there was no link to this place in that thread. Wasn't difficult to find with a google search, but if one had to trawl through threads on the old site to ferret out the link I suspect they would just give up - unless it was the time of day when the site happened to be responsive.

I meant to post another sticky with the new address but I wanted to word it carefully - in case FX logged on I didn't want to offend him or make him mad - but I forgot. Sorry everyone! When it's back I'll make a post with the link.

Re: Old HTLAL crash again?
Hi guys,
the bad news is I went on holiday on August 22nd and I was in a bit of a rush so I couldn't leave an automated backup system behind, then WiFi coverage at my hotel was spotty... -- in short: my last backup is from August 21st, 13:00 European time. Anyway...
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "access" -- but given the URL of any thread(s) back at HTLAL it would take me just a few seconds to have copies ready to be sent off.
Best regards,
EFDLB

Serpent wrote:@mrwarper, if you're reading this - do your backups enable access by URL? There are links to old threads in the wikia Although at least in my case it's just a matter of time until I write the same things again here

...until it isn't, again. Had we gone back after the domain name outage and then had this "whatever reason" outage happen, torches and pitchforks would have come out in force. Outages happen. Sometimes they're unavoidable. What turns an outage into outrage is lack of communication. That's one of the issues that I and others have had enough of and won't tolerate anymore.

Note to self, don't miscommunicate with these people or they will pitchfork you.

I, for one, will not go back to the old forum. And, I want to thank everyone who is involved with setting up this new forum.
Merci à tous pour votre travail acharné.

But don't we all know that? : )
What some might be interested in hearing is, my backup is fully updated now.

You should watch out for spurious 'r's anyway ; )

Well I've backed up my own logs now, just in case (or do I mean "for next time"?), but, out of curiosity, how often do you update the backup? Daily?

But look on the bright side! In this community, you would get to learn how to say "pitchfork" in so many, many different languages!
