You have my vote for "Intoxicated Mongoose", sir.
neofight78 wrote:I never claimed they were good or inspiring! Just that they were identifiably about language learning. You could call the forum "Intoxicated Mongoose", but no language learners would find us, although we could find ourselves with a large following of drug taking mammals.

Re: A new forum name?
Perhaps "help to learn a language", "language learning", "language learner", with the addition of "next generation". And the URL could be a simple HLAL.org, for example.

I kind of liked Cavesa's idea about a League of Language Learners or something of that nature. I think it's nicely descriptive. That's what we are -- a bunch of learners helping and encouraging each other.

This idea isn't mine, I think it is Astromule's. But I agree. A name stressing the community aspect is a better choice than a school/book/miraclebelivers/whatever like name.

Oops! Sorry, astromule. I suppose I should have gone back through the thread to check who said what instead of relying on my faulty memory. Anyway, I like the idea even if it was made in jest.

Re: A new forum name?
I don't think "league" is the best word to describe our community. First, it associates with sports and some kind of competition, and second, it doesn't make it transparent that anyone can join.
I agree completely with this. We need a simple name that makes it obvious what the forum is about and encourages potential new learners to explore and join.
I really like the "Languages Step by Step" suggestion, it sounds nice and fits our forum well. We could also make it "Foreign Languages Step by Step" to make it even more transparent.

The name needs to make it obvious that this site will help people to learn a language. I would imagine that perhaps the least exciting or interesting names might actually be the most practical.
