I did it for a little while, I started at 80%, then increased speed gradually. I took me just a few days to get used to 100% speed. This illusion is really spooky in that it persists even after watching the video many times. But it seems that the sound and the lip movements need to be in perfect sync for it to happen, in a dubbed tape the sound will be always a little off, hence no effect. From my knowledge of Spanish French and Italian, I find that news in Catalan to be nearly 100% transparent, with zero previous study of Catalan, so news is probably a good genre to get your reading started. I have tried reading novels, but they were to difficult.

I find that tv series tend to have clearer pronunciation, in movies the speech is more slurred.

Yes of course. It is probably a good idea to stick to translations until they are totally unchallenging. Translations' concise, simple and straightforward language is in fact a very nice style for you to emulate. But be aware that it is not right to presume that translated works are by nature easier...

The masculine is neuter and inclusive, the proponents of the lenguaje no sexista are the sexist themselves, finding discrimination where there is none.
