Re: Fantastic Wanderlust and Where to Find It(alian)

Anyone who recognizes my username knows I have bounced around a bit in my languages since joining this site. ... Is it worth trying to struggle through a novel at this point just for the vocabulary exposure? If not, what would you recommend instead? Yes, I remember all of your previous learning att...

Re: HTTPS is now enabled (it will break some offsite images)

Thanks for your hard work, emk! You were right about youtube videos. All of the ones I had embedded in my log (despite being htpps) are gone. So, it looks like the youtube embedding feature will no longer work. Not that I'm complaining, but I did like the feature and took full advantage of it in my ...

Re: The iguana's tale- Portuguese, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Ladino

It's been a month since I've last posted to my log. No excuses, I've just not really felt like posting here. Three weeks ago I went up to the States, to New Orleans. It's my annual fix for live music and I take full advantage of it. Jazz Fest is a two weekend festival at the local racetrack, called ...

Re: French and Spanish Book Recommendations

At B1 Spanish level, I'd suggest the young adult series of Isabel Allende. Start with La ciudad de las bestias. It has adventure and fantasy. It's the first of a trilogy and should be accessible at B1.

Re: Stelle's log: Italian (with a side of Spanish)

I know that this is only marginally language-related, but I would welcome anyone's thoughts on how to balance work and life. I'm no expert on life or language-learning. For what it may be worth, here are some of my thoughts. I have observed in my life that people are happiest when they have more co...

Re: A forum for non-language chatter ?

This comes up periodically: "The forum has such really nice people who are mature and respectful adults. Why can't we have an area where we can talk about other subjects besides language-learning? We can handle that." The forum is such a nice place because of the rules and policies that ar...
