I have no idea what that means but I appreciate that you do and that you are giving your time so that we may quibble over our opinions and share our language learning experiences. You are a legend.

Re: The great push to C2 (Extra French Edition)

Your plight brought this song to mind. Well, not so much your plight - just the idea of writing to the President of France. And I enjoy sharing a good song.

Good luck.

They're scrapping Cook Island Maori, Maori is listed as a language in recess.

Re: French vs Spanish - Which one is easy to learn?

Hi. Both of those languages are classed as easier languages for an English language speaker to learn when compared to other languages. But that does not make them easy as such - just easier than others. Most people would say Spanish is easier than French. Most people would also say that the language...

Re: surprises about a country

A surprise about The Netherlands: the famous windmills don't exist in the reality. They haven't got the nice old windmills, but the spooky new ones that look horrible, I mean the eco versions to make electricity. Of course other countries have got the modern type, but Holland should have beautiful ...

Re: Ripping DVDs to Hard Drive + How To Learn With TV

Seneca, I think the only thing I do differently is that I rip to .mkv. I don't know if that will resolve your problem but might be worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion. I am giving it a go. Do .mkv files usually take a while? This first episode has been processing for an hour and a half on handbr...

Re: Ripping DVDs to Hard Drive + How To Learn With TV

This would probably be my process since it's the most time efficient method I can think of: 1) Find a decent movie on a mediathek and capture with matching subs. 2) Edit subs to unbreak and merge lines to avoid cards with half a sentence. 3) Upload txt version of the subs to Google Translate and ge...

Re: surprises about a country

What surprised me about Latvia was that there are freshwater turtles in the wild there, namely European pond turtle. If I think about turtles I think of tropics or at least someplace warm but apparently they're tough little buggers. Latvian-Estonian border is about as far north as they go so they m...

Re: How do people feel about surveys?

The thing is that I hadn't realised the inaccuracy of my description until some of the members made me notice. Especially since I had showed it to an expert and was told it was fine! But that's okay, I can edit it! I'm sorry if I wasted five minutes of someone's time, it was really not my intention...
