Re: Tarvos' новый лог

I think my to-read list is about 30 books, so removing 26 would practically be removing the list - or reading them all. (In my case, the latter is more likely).

I might be able to finish this book before I leave on Monday. Well, 70 or so pages left, that's doable in two days.

And is this the gathering where there'll be cookies for Finnish?

No, but we don't have to pay the same amount for the Gathering.

Yes, it's that weird. Nothing in this book makes any kind of sense, but it's funny. By the way, that ...

Re: Odd materials at the university lessons

Конечно. Такие анекдоты, лично для меня, очень даже бы являлись причинами, по которым бы начала изучать иностранный язык... And besides, do people not talk about these things? When you read Russian literature, I don't think it's all happy fairies. I mean, Anna Karenina ends in a very tragic way too....

Re: Tarvos' новый лог

And in a few days I devoured a Spanish thriller of 480 pages by Eva García Sáenz de Urturi.

I've also practiced my presentation for the Polyglot Gathering in English and Spanish. I haven't decided where to add other languages yet, but we'll improvise depending on what languages are present.

Re: How do you know if you understand?

It isn't beginner, but it certainly needs to be introduced before the C-levels. And yes, the Spanish construction is impersonal. But it is different because in Spanish you can drop subject pronouns, so the way the structure ends up being used is different. Dative constructions have been used in the ...

Re: How do you know if you understand?

Some people might say that none of this stuff is really important in real life as long as you have a gist of what is going on. True, but when time comes to use this stuff - if ever that happens, such as in a C-level exam - they key to using it well is to understand how it works. Il vous reste is a ...
