Re: Russian Study Group

I was suggested to read this article about the first Russian words all foreigners should learn. Thought it might be nice for our beginners who can just look at the word list, and other levels for the full article. Does anyone have any additions? Personally, one of the first words I had to ask people...

Re: There are worse things I could do... (FR, RU, ES)

Woops, it's been a while. I'm still trying to sort my French course, so should hopefully have an update about that next week. Otherwise, we are now settled into the academic year and life is ticking along. I don't have masses to report, but I want to get back into the habit of doing my weekly summar...

Re: Russian Study Group

I'll have to check out that series - looks really useful! My Russian is just ticking along really. Term has started again, so I am doing classes and homework and so on, but haven't quite managed to pull my language study back into gear. There's just been a lot going on and so while Russian has conti...

Re: Russian Study Group

They're difficult for native speakers, i.e. I'm crap with English tongue twisters, so why do non-native speakers have to wrestle with them? The few occasions a Russian teacher has used them, I've not really felt any benefit. Maybe someone has a difference experience or even has some data on this. P...

Re: Russian Study Group

One of my teachers has noted that I should be working on the ease of my speech and pronunciation, so has sent me this tonguetwister to practise with. If anyone wants to suffer with me, enjoy! How do you all cope with accents, etc when writing in French? I tend to either not bother, or copy and paste them in, neither of which are really sensible solutions! Do you know the keyboard codes to include them? Is that what you do?

]The discussion group should be good though, don't you think? Just forcing you to produce french, about a defined topic for forty mins. I've signed up for a MOOC , which I mostly intend to use for output practise in the course forum. Yeah, I would have gone for the discussion group because it would...

Re: There are worse things I could do... (FR, RU, ES)

Well, I have signed up for a French course at university. It's a little more challenging than I was hoping, which is a little worrying in terms of grades, but probably good for me in general! It definitely means that I need to get back into French at any rate. I had also been planning to do a French...
