Re: READ IT! Spanish readers are great
I would disagree. I looked at the Kindle samples on Amazon. They have taken some classic public domain books and watered them down so much that they are incredibly boring. This kind of thing is useful at the very beginning of your studies--the first month or two--when you cannot parse native materials. If you're at that stage, don't buy more than one or two of these, because you *will* be able to jump to native materials much sooner than you might think. For me personally, I would rather read the original book and only understand 50% of it, than to read these bowdlerized simulacrums and understand 95%.

Re: READ IT! Spanish readers are great
These are great for my purposes. I'm homeschooling my kids, and they're eager to do some reading. At this point in their study of Spanish, readers written for language learners are far more manageable than original works, and these particular Kindle books are much more affordable than most of what's out there.
OTOH, I was at Schoenhof's this weekend and picked up some Cervantes and Matute for my older one to dig into next year, so we won't stick with readers forever. I also got some Asterix in Spanish, because comics are fun!
