Notice boardFebruary, 2024: Yay! Thanks to Sprachprofi and Adam Scott, our beloved challenge is back in business. Not only do we now have a dedicated place for signing up and logging hours, beyond the clutches of Mr Musk, but a new and improved
shiny interface too!
May, 2023: Due to Mr Musk's new Twitter policies, automatic processing has sadly been suspended for our 6 Week Challenge Bot. This means (as of May 23, 2023) participants may no longer register and log their hours on language learning via Twitter as they have done for the past 12 years. This is sad news for the Challenge and an appeal has been filed to reinstate our account.
Jan, 2023: You may have noticed no new follow-up summary posts since Dec 2020. Unfortunately, being a very busy dad, I've had to take the tough decision to cut back on certain things to fit in everything else in my life. I will, however, continue to update both lists of winners here in this thread for the foreseeable future. Good luck to everyone in 2023 and beyond!
Apr-Aug, 2019: 6WC web pages and Twitter bot were unfortunately down or unavailable throughout much of this period, but have since been kindly fixed by Judith (@Sprachprofi, HTLAL).
Feb, 2019: Interesting cultural images (some with links) for winning target hours languages (often custom-designed or modified by yours truly to make them a little more personal and unique).
Oct, 2017: Pronunciation links (Forvo) added to target language winners' "Congratulations!" images in follow-up summary posts.
Update: I've since moved this over to the body of the text, and will omit the Forvo link for longer sentences.Mar, 2017: Upon request, I've included
ISO codes for all past
target language medalists in the first post.
Oct, 2016: I just thought I'd add a thread to our forum that gives credit to all the
past winners and runners-up of the
6 Week Challenge, and I'll try to keep this updated. Congratulations to everyone who has worked hard to progress in their languages during each one of these challenges, and I hope the 6WC tradition continues to inspire and help language learners achieve their goals in the years to come!
