Is there any difference in meaning between "ne pas donner" and "ne donner pas"?

I was looking up an unknown-to-me expression and the definition used one, the speaker the other.

"Ne donner pas" doesn't exist in contemporary French (at least, not that I am aware). You don't split the negation with infinitives but you do when the verb is conjugated.

I've just come across an expression that I'm a little curious about.

Nope, they mean the same. But "ne pas donner" is far more common.

Now if it's an auxiliary+past participle construction, the etre/avoir usually goes between the ne...pas. So it would be "on lui reprochait de ne l'avoir pas fait."

I'm a litte confused by "carotte" in the following text:
