There's https://letterboxd.com/ for movies, although it's slow and I don't exactly love the interface. I've been wishing for a "Goodreads for movies" for a long time but I've yet to find anything that's really comparable; this seems the best of a bad lot. But perhaps Trakd is worth a try; I hadn't heard of it before.

For books, there is http://www.anobii.com/, which is similar to Goodreads but is more popular among Italians.

Bonus: https://untappd.com/ - keep track of the beers you've tried and find out what is popular in various areas :D

Added these two, class central for MOOCs and the sites garyb recommended.

For keeping track of your personal goals, I prefer the mindbloom.com life tree. It uses the same watering metaphor as Memrise. There are also various motivational quotes and pictures.

Anyway the goal of this thread was also to share the links to our accounts... and I use almost all these sites :D

aviation:
http://flightdiary.net/serpent/flights my main account
http://openflights.org/user/Serpent?lang=fi_FI I love that the site is available in Finnish, and I love how you can enter the actual distance. I use http://flightaware.com for finding it out, or just measure approximately via googlemaps if the route is very different from the great circle one. btw despite the name you can also add non-aerial travel
http://meine.flugstatistik.de/serpent I joined it before finding better sites so I've decided to use it to keep track of my solo travel only. I'll decide as needed what counts and what doesn't. Definitely not counting flights with family, including cousin. This site also allows you to enter the distance yourself, and as noted before you can type the city/country/airport/plane names in any language (but it won't recognize France and Frankreich as the same country).

Serpent wrote:Many people love using the SC bot simply to keep track of their reading/watching. There are some dedicated sites for keeping track of cultural stuff and travel. They're aimed at native speakers but do their job for tracking the learning too.
The "social" part implies being able to rate things and read/write reviews. Most of these sites allow keeping a private profile.
Do you use any of these sites? Feel free to post the link to your profile or just share some tips :)
Which other sites do you know, especially used by non-English speakers?

For books, there is this French site: http://www.babelio.com/

I use it only from time to time, but I see that I have entered 65 books. My handle is Cornpone.

Since a lot of people on here are also on Goodreads, does anyone know of any active groups with languages or language learning as themes?
If not, would people be interested in joining one? I don't mind creating the group but I would need someone to help out with managing it and there's really no point if no one joins. We could have different sections for different languages or types of literature.

Anyway, my profile is here: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/400 ... mushgattoi. I haven't used it much so far but am always looking for more books to put on my to-read list. :)
