I knew what you meant, but I don't think Yuurei is coming, so we'll have to make do. Anyway, I don't feel I deserve cookies for my Finnish. Maybe next year.

Did anyone else notice that the number of registered participants dropped from 430 and something to 411 within 24 hours?

Yeah, I was just showing a person the impressive list of participants, and it was lower than before. Maybe they've deleted the duplicate registrations (there were quite a few).

I'll have something for the learners of Finnish ;)

You need to pay within 5 days after registering, otherwise your registration will be cancelled. Maybe that's what happened with some people on the list.

I'm excited and terrifying! Due to the fact that I'm leaving my job next week (and also because it was cheaper) I changed my booking so that I won't arrive in Bratislava until the 31st. However, I'll be arriving obscenely early - at least, obscenely early for someone who doesn't believe in being anywhere at 6.30am.

I won't bring anything for the food festival as the only typically British thing I can think of is fish and chips, and that's a meal that can only just about manage being brought home from the shop! But I can bring a few books! In fact, I will try to bring some of the foreign non-fiction from work. It's mostly French, German and Swedish, but we do have a few other languages available too. (Some Spanish, Italian and occasionally Czech, Polish, Turkish and Greek.)

You don't seem all that terrifying, but thanks for the warning.

Maybe I should crack open my Finnish book again. Fluent in two days. :?

I'm good at disguising my true terrible-ness! :D

Quick question: is anyone going to Devin castle? Which day? The day I wanted to go has been cancelled :(
EDIT: Just realised that the alternative days mean the trip happens either during rdearman's talk, or tarvos' :(

Yeah, I was disappointed by this as well. I really didn't want to cancel the trip, but I also couldn't decide between the two talks, so I left it up to a coin toss and indicated that either date works (though this probably just makes it more likely that I'll end up in the June 1 group - I'm sorry, rdearman :( ).

I've had another look and decided that spending 3-4 hours there is overkill  I'm just going to take the bus and hopefully go back by boat/ship (it takes 90 min against the current and just 30 min from the castle to the centre).

Rats. I need to check that I am not at the castle when I should be talking!!!

Edit: OK, I'm not at the castle during my presentation, and I hadn't realised the trip would conflict with the presentations. Since I'm going for the presentations not to see a castle, I've asked to be taken off the list. If that isn't possible I might have a castle trip if anyone wants it. :(
