Add me please. I need about 3,600 more words to hit 10k, 5k wordlisted and 5k prior, and be done with active vocab study for German for now.

Minimum acceptable words learnt for April: 1,200.
Actual goal: 3,600. Go big or go home

reineke wrote:I did say that it's impossibile to make the challenge fair but there's no reason to make it extra unfair. Conjugations have built-in mnemonics so I would count parlare as one word and ignore different conjugations. Even if you're only counting individual dictionary headwords, most English-speaking students of Romance languages will have an advantage. Anyway, it's your challenge. Have fun.

Again, I agree. You are absolutely right. But the only way to make the challenge fair would be splitting it into many (usually one person) challenges, sorted by the language.

I think the challenge serves its purpose as long as it makes us sit down and work with our SRS (or another method) for much longer than we would otherwise do.

And yes, conjugations are easier than completely new words, as they follow some rules. But, on the other hand, it is tricky not to mix the forms up since they are so similar sometimes. :-D

I am probably not going to do anymore tonight, so figure I may as well post my total so far since the start of the challenge.

My total so far is 801 words. I guess I am easily on track for my goal, so I may have to modify it and see how it goes. I was not actually overly happy with the time I was able to devote to the challenge, so all in all, I can not really complain with my total thus far.

I hope everyone else have been having a more productive time with it. Good luck for the following week :)

I've done 180 new cards on Memrise so far. I'm learning vocabulary from other sources too, but that's harder to count, so I'm only counting Memrise cards for the challenge.
