I'm not getting my "watched" registered... where do I get help?
The readings I log in get registered, the watchings not. :-(

I looked at your tweets and you've forgotten the hashtag before watched. You need to write #watched.

I have a question on challenge reading for Thai. It is very difficult to find appropriate level books even on Amazon and the online bookstores I've found are all in Thai which I'm not able to understand at my current low level so it would be impossible for me to order. There is a nice graphic for what is allowed for the film category but I don't see that for reading.

I assume reading the transcripts from Bakunin's site http://www.aakanee.com/main.html will count. Most likely I will have to do some kind of calculation to determine the word count since Thai doesn't have spaces between words. Does any type of reading count?

tomgosse wrote:Hello all,

After a week into the Super Challenge, I have read one book, Pauvre Anne, and watched 2.4 films.

Pauvre Anne is fifty pages long and an easy read. It is written at a junior high school level. There are about ten books in this series.

I just started Le Pendentif. It is a similar book of the same length.

I have watched watched seven episodes on Extra French on YouTube. Each one is about twenty-four minutes long. I've also started watching C'est Pas Sorcier. I hope that I can keep up the pace for another year.

All the best,
Tom

Great French resources. I especially like and highly recommend the Blaine Ray Workshops - Command Performance Language Institute books. They are excellent early French books! I read 6 of the 10 in the series, and seeing you referencing Pauvre Anne above brings back great memories. The stories are not too shabby for early books, and reading them in order makes a great progression of difficulty. Here is a link to the series at CPLI. http://www.cpli.net/list_forLangFrench.html Just beware that the audio CD's are not very well made, and are not up to the quality of the books, IMO. Great memories.

Lots of edits... :-(

Comic books count for 1/5 of the pages, not whole pages. So I just "lost" 5 books. :-( Not happy.

Watching movies with subtitles count as movies, not as reading. "Lost" another book. :-( Not happy.

Should have re-read the rules before submitting. *sigh* :-( Not happy.

But, well... it just means I have more books to read :-D

There was a prior post regarding the page length of ebooks. I went back to Amazon this morning and went through most of my books I hadn't read yet--many did list page count, but a good number didn't. It listed only the KB amount--but when I looked at other books to get an idea of what that corresponded to, it varied too much. (Maybe if one book has more pictures than another?)

At this point, I'm not going to worry about it. I have so many books now--print, ebook already and available free through Kindle Unlimited--that I'll be fine. If I do end up reading one of the books with no page count--maybe lowball a guess of pages?

If anyone is below C1 in Spanish--Amazon has added a LOT of new graded ebooks in A1 to B2--many have the level on the front cover to quickly find, although I don't know how accurate their rating is. I just got two new Sherlock Holmes books and a number of others.

I just went back and changed my original Super Challenge post from Spanish Double, German (maybe) to Spanish Half German Half.

I'm going to change my signature line to reflect that also.

Do I need to change it anywhere else? The LangChallenge Bot or anything?

Also, what is this twitter bot people speak of? Do i need a twitter account to enter this challenge? Does this twitter bot manage the total books and total films watched bar at the bottom of peoples profiles (haven't entered the challenge yet but i intend to)
