Re: The Super Challenge rules and registration 2016-2017
LANGUAGE: Spanish
CHALLENGE: DOUBLE
CURRENT LEVEL: Lower-Intermediate
COMMENTS: Hello everybody. Just found this forum. Want to be a part of this. I am planning on studying abroad in Mexico or Spain in Fall 2017. These courses are taught in Spanish so I really need to up my comprehension level in order to pass my classes. Right now, I'd consider myself lower-intermediate. I can read intermediate level material with a dictionary nearby and children's/beginner material without one. However when it comes to advanced texts, it's like a brick wall. By the end of this challenge (In fact, by 13 months from now because that's when the program starts), I hope to be able to have absolutely no problem reading intermediate material (like a Harry Potter book for example) and to be able to read advanced literature with a dictionary . Right now I'd put myself at a lower B1. I hope to at least reach a very high B2 if not C1. I will need to take a B2 test to be admitted into the university for the semester (since I do not have all of the required classes) so that's the sort of do or die goal. Alright, so I probably wrote more than I need to, but I guess this also doubles as my introduction to the forum. Hope to enjoy this challenge with you all!

The Super Challenge registration
I read about the Super Challenge on Scott's blog "The (De-)Fossilization Diaries" - it was mentioned in the comments.
I hunted it down and joined this forum just to be able to join... and at the first I was a bit miffed by the "starts on 1/5" - 10-11 weeks ago...
But then I thought that "it's just 1 1/2 months of 20, it's still OK to join!", so here I am
It means that I need to watch 5 1/2 movies and read 5 1/2 books in a month instead of 5 movies/books
Big difference... I still have almost 80 weeks left.
LANGUAGE: French
CHALLENGE: full
CURRENT LEVEL: uh... not a total beginner, but... I suppose A2? Perhaps?
COMMENTS: I have loved languages from the day I learned there are languages My interest is more linguistic, I am fascinated by grammar, language families, relations between languages, reasoning behind the creation of a language, minority languages, how languages are influenced by each other etc. etc. I started "collecting" languages when I was... 10?
I would say I know Finnish (my mothertongue), English (my first foreign language) and Swedish (my second foreign language, the other official language of Finland and the language of where I live right now). I want to become as fluent with French. I want to be able to watch movies and tv series without subtitles and read books without any help from dictionaries
I have registered on Tiwtter.

Tervetuloa
You can count anything you've done since the challenge started, as long as you're sure not to accidentally count stuff from April (and earlier).
