I am already quite intimidated by this challenge  and I can't believe some people are doing double challenges (or full challenges in multiple languages, or even double challenges in multiple languages  )! Good job everyone!

I'm a bit late to the party, but:

LANGUAGE: Japanese
CHALLENGE: Half
CURRENT LEVEL: Somewhere between N2 and N1
COMMENTS: I'm joining this challenge for two reasons: 1) I am starting a Korean course next week and I don't want my Japanese to deteriorate, and 2) I realised reading and watching movies is exactly what I currently want to be doing with my Japanese. I studied for N1 last year, got burned out, failed, and decided N1 is not my goal anyway - using my Japanese for the things I love is (i.e. reading books). So this challenge is actually perfect! Going for half a challenge because I also want to succeed at Korean :)

Few months late to the party but I can do this.

Language: Russian

Challenge: Full

Current Level: A1 (Med/High)

Language: Japanese

Challenge: Half

Current Level: C1

Language: Norwegian

Challenge: Half

Current Level: A0

Comments:
Really wanna be able to read some awesome Russian lit by the end of this, my main goal is to read Roadside Picnic and Cloud in Trousers. I'm hoping this challenge will be what it takes to get a lot of good practice in consistently. I also want to get more intensive on my Japanese studies and hopefully get that to an even higher level. Not really sure why I'm doing Norwegian too, but it seems like a pretty cool language that won't be too crazy hard.

So I'm a bit late.

LANGUAGE: French
CHALLENGE: Full
CURRENT LEVEL: B2
COMMENTS: Starting with children's books that I read when I was little, then working up to full novels.

LANGUAGE: German
CHALLENGE: Full
CURRENT LEVEL: B2
COMMENTS: Same as French.

LANGUAGE: Spanish
CHALLENGE: Full
CURRENT LEVEL: B2
COMMENTS: Same as French.

LANGUAGE: Russian
CHALLENGE: Full
CURRENT LEVEL: B2
COMMENTS: Same as French.

LANGUAGE: Mandarin Chinese
CHALLENGE: Full
CURRENT LEVEL: C1
COMMENTS: Same as French. There is a big difference in writing styles from Children's literature to literature for adults. I haven't worked on reading for a while in Chinese, so I'll start with Children's books (9-10 year old Children's books).

I can't seem to find the Twitter link to set up those nice bars that everyone has on their posts that state how far they have "leveled up."

It's never too late :)
I'm looking forward to see what you'll read and watch in Chinese and French.

You can check how to set up the bars in the forum FAQ http://forum.language-learners.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1792.

Almost six months in, but I'll register and do something here. Totally going to count what I've dine since May, though (here, not with the bot, I'm not doing Twitter)

LANGUAGE: Spanish
CHALLENGE: full
CURRENT LEVEL: B2 ish
COMMENTS: level averaged for unbalanced skills, probably was lower back in May anyway

LANGUAGE: French
CHALLENGE: full
CURRENT LEVEL: B2 ish
COMMENTS: level averaged for unbalanced skills

LANGUAGE: Swedish
CHALLENGE: full
CURRENT LEVEL: just started, but yay cognates
COMMENTS: why not, eh?

LANGUAGE: Danish
CHALLENGE: full
CURRENT LEVEL: same as Swedish
COMMENTS: again, why not?

Right, so that should be enough...those little progress bars are good motivation!

Just came back to the HTLAL forum world after years of absence, but I need some kind of motivation to keep pushing forward with my Mandarin and Russian study so I think I'll sign my soul over for a half SC in each.
I'm afraid I'm a huge newb though and don't really understand how all this works. How do I get the nifty little bars and how do I fill them up? How does the Twitter bot work? Where/to whom should I even be asking these questions?

LANGUAGE: Mandarin Chinese

CHALLENGE: HALF

CURRENT LEVEL: C1 or HSK5, by intuitive self-evaluation

COMMENTS: My reading is kind of slow, so hopefully this should speed it up. I'll try to read extensively as much as possible, but it is always tempting to look up every unknown character just to at least know how to pronounce it...

---

LANGUAGE: Russian

CHALLENGE: HALF

CURRENT LEVEL: again, C1 by self-evaluation, Advanced Mid-High on ACTFL scale as of 2014

COMMENTS: I have a huge amount of literature that I have been wanting to read in Russian for a long time, so hopefully this will help motivate me to work through it.

EDIT:
And my log is just my default log for now at least

Thanks rdearman! Just noticed that only a few replies previously someone else had just asked the same; your patience in the face of my incompetence is admirable.
