Have there ever been any challenges about SRS? Since those of us on this site enjoy melting our brains, and SRS systems can be very intense, would it make any sense to do a 10000 sentences challenge or a 10000 words challenge?
I've been doing SRS off and on the whole time I've been studying languages, and it has been very useful, perhaps as useful as extensive reading.
The main thing I have done is sentence cards, cloze cards, some vocabulary cards.
Would this be of any interest to anyone? It has language, numbers, and the chance for over committing oneself!

I'm half asleep. I'll look about a poll tomorrow. Anyone else can do one if they're still awake.

You nearly had me at "numbers" already but the "chance for over comitting" was the last drop. Sign me up!
By the way, what would the rules be? 10000 new cards? 10000 reviews? 10000 cards in general? 10000 minutes?
10000 somethings during a time limit (like the Super Challenge) or a kind of friendly race to 10000 somethings (that kind where people cheer up for the last tortoise to happily get to finish)?

I don't have the time for this, so I'm definitely up for it! Alas, I haven't Anki for a while (whilst having payed for the iPhone app!) – perfect way for me to use it more often.

pekoral, litterärt verk kännetecknat av den icke avsedda komiska effekt som uppstår ur kontrasten mellan författarens aningslösa banalitet och hans misslyckade ansträngningar att imitera en högstämd eller högtidlig stil.

Re: 10000 srs challenge?
Memrise has organized challenges, something like who can learn most words during a calendar month. Excerpt from the rules:
"Each user's score will be determined by counting the total number of words that:
1. The user has not been presented with or tested on, on Memrise before the start date of The Contest
2. Have been ‘grown’ to be full ‘flowers’ before the finish date of The Contest
3. Are not ‘ready for review’ at the finish date of The Contest
Whether a word is ‘Ready for Review’ is determined solely by the Memrise review algorithm."

Depending on what month this would most likely take place in, I would definitely be interested.

Considering how neglectful I normally am of actually doing SRS reviews, I'd definitely join in! I could use the motivation of a challenge.

Re: 10000 srs challenge?
I wouldn't want to make it a memrise only challenge. I've never used it, and there isn't anything there I want to study right now. I tend to think in terms of anki, so we need input from people who use other systems, so that any rules we decide on are fair whatever system you use.
I suppose that we should just say cards. Cards differ a lot in difficulty, but I doubt we could get everybody to agree to study exactly the same kind of card. I'll probably do sentence cards.
I suppose the challenge should be to get 10000 cards started in anki, and continue reviewing them while you build up the number of cards.
When should we start it? Summer vacation in the Northern Hemisphere?
I think it should go for at least 10000/20=500 days. Like the Super Challenge, this is not a very challenging pace for a day, or a week; the challenge is keeping it up.
Probably 20 months is the right length to let people miss a few days and still finish.
Of course anybody is welcome to start way too many new cards and wind up with a huge pile of review cards. This would also allow people to fall behind on reviews and have to fight through hundreds of review cards.
