Damn you!
I've considered one for years but thought it was too expensive considering I already own an iPad. Now I'm sitting here with my new Kindle and wishing for a long summer so I actually end up using it.

Good work, don't let those luddites get you down!
iPads are awesome but inside or outside the reading experience is much better on a Kindle (or any e-ink type screen). Don't wait for sunshine, get using it now, you won't regret it.

Re: Worst part of being dependent on digital tools
I can second neofight on this. While I read a number of electronic newspapers and magazines on my iPad, I really prefer the Kindle for reading books. E-ink screens are much better for the eyes, and with pop-up dictionaries it is great for reading in your L2, L3, L4 etc.
By the way, I notice that since I stopped looking at computer or tablet screens the last hour or so before going to bed with my Kindle, I sleep much better.

What beautiful, realistic wallpaper!
The Kindle will also be good for battery life. Otherwise with other devices outdoor time can be great audio-only time.

It's scientifically proven that you're not the only one.
Now what we need is a computer designed specifically for serious work late at night with an eink screen so obsessive coders can get to sleep after a long session at the keyboard.

Have a look at Dasung Paperwhite. No idea about the quality but I appreciate the development and actually backed an e-ink laptop on Kickstarter but it was more of a fantasy project and the creator cancelled it after a few days.

Unfortunately it's not compatible with Linux, and I wasn't going to throw money* at something which was going to have me stuck on slow old Windows when a lightweight Linux distro is much quicker to develop on.
* I can't remember how much they were asking for it, but the way I remember it, it wasn't cheap.
