Francais Avec Pierre

Postby cas_sj » Sun May 21, 2017 2:18 pm

Do any French learners here have experience with the programs from Francais Avec Pierre?

http://francaisavecpierre.com/les-cours-de-francais/

I've been intrigued by his free stuff on his website and Youtube, and would like to hear any feedback on his courses.

I have been following his courses or videos for about a year now and I really like him. I have never bought any of his special boxed courses but I bet they are good. He just came out with a DALF C1 - Mon cours pour réussir l'examen à tous les coups !

Actually in the last 2-3 months he has included his very beautiful and brilliant polyglot wife, Noemi, to work along side him and it makes it even more fun. He is a trained FLE teacher who really knows his stuff and likes to emphasize grammar and with him I find it becomes contagious to learn more grammar.

He is from Bordeaux, Landis, but teaches French in Madrid, Spain. And has 2 young boys and a girl all under about 7 years old. Since he is pumping out these wonderful videos at such a rapid rate he could very quickly come to dominate this market niche.

If you have any further questions, by all means ask.

Enjoy.

PS- Don't forget to join our French group and set up a log. It is lots of fun and Tom Gosse is wonderfull.

Thanks for that feedback! Yes I've followed Pierre's free stuff for perhaps 3 months now, and am intrigued enough to consider buying his programs - they'd probably add more structure. His background as an FLE professor speaks well for what the content probably offers. I was hoping to find someone else here who had made the investment and could speak specifically to the content before I purchased.

For those interested, another/perhaps similar program I ran across is Francais Authentique - https://www.francaisauthentique.com/

But I agree there are lots of free resources here and elsewhere (together with all the stuff I already have) that these programs might not really add anything significantly new or different.

Thanks to Carmody for referring me to the French language forum/blog - I'll check it out!

Yes, I have followed Johan as well for quite some time. He was my first actually and I do still stay current with him.

The good news with him is that he has lots of videos up that you can learn from and especially that he also always speaks very slowly....So for me as beginner, he is good. But the bad news is that he increasingly uses his videos for marketing of his products. Also he doesn't have the academic background that Pierre has over at Français Avec Pierre. He is a trained academic that makes the love of grammar contagious. At the moment, he is the tops for me.

Bottom line on all of this is of course that I believe this Forum is a fantastic source for you for where to go for materials and courses.

What courses do you plan on using for your French?

Also, if you set up a log page of some sort, people will be able to know how best to help you. That way you get conversations targeted at your level rather than too elementary or advanced.

I also would love to hear your comments.

I did French A1 level with Hujiang (an online teaching platform in China). For A2 I am planning to try Pierre's francais progressif 1. Is this package good for A2 level?

To me studying with free stuffs on the Internet is less efficient as materials tend to be not well structured and organized as what a course can offer.
