Mobile app for shadowing

Postby arthaey » Thu Apr 13, 2017 3:30 pm

Does anyone know of a good iPhone app (or mobile-friendly website) that makes shadowing easier?

My ideal app would:
  • show me the wave form of what I'm listening to,
  • show my own shadowed wave form overlaid on top of that, and
  • dead-simple controls to repeat the same portion of audio a billion times.
(Answers for Android are also welcome, to help out other users, but I personally have an iPhone.)

Have you had a look at Speater (iPhone app)? It does the first and the third things on your list. There is a lite version for you to try. When I found Speater I looked at a couple of others and Speater seemed best. These apps are usually designed with musicians in mind. Speater automatically chunks your file based on gaps in the conversation - with some files this works beautifully - with others, less so. I'm pretty sure the chunks can be adjusted but I haven't bothered to figure it out.

Try WorkAudioBook. It's a great tool. The desktop version is free, the Android version costs just a few bucks. You can find it here: http://workaudiobook.com/ It's way more useful than Audacity
